With Spring around the corner (hopefully), St. James is pleased to announce its first annual Clothing Swap Shop. This is a chance to clean out closets and pick up new items at NO cost!
Please complete the attached sign up sheet and indicate what type of clothing you are bringing or looking for. If you are interested in donating clothes, a small fee of $10/table will reserve your spot. Consider splitting a table with a friend to save costs.
Donated clothing that does not find a new home will be distributed to the Salvation Army and C.P. and all funds received from table rentals will be donated to LAWS and the MS Society.
This initiative is also supporting the #Gooddeeedscup Challenge

We also have three #gooddeeds surprises coming up for different members in our community! Pictures posted on our facebook page!
Our annual book fair dates have been selected.
A reminder that for every $10 spent by students, $6 comes directly back to our school!

Erin and George Tsarouhas presented a cheque to Mrs. Forbes on Tuesday, January 30th in the amount of $5200.00.
These funds have been earmarked for outdoor equipment (including benches, picnic tables and a sunshade structure) at our new school.
The funds were raised from a dance held on New Years Eve which was supported by many different businesses and community members from Smiths Falls and the surrounding areas.
St. James is pleased to announce that we will be staging a musical production, Circus Circus. The show is a musical play for young singers. In the show, the ringmaster has lost their voice and needs someone to fill in. Everyone from the clowns to the lions to the trapeze artists want to be picked, but who will the ringmaster choose? In the end, the problem is solved and everyone learns about kindness and looking out for others.
Auditions will be arranged at recesses the week of January 15-19 and will be open to all Grade 1-3 students.
Please click here for more information and a copy of the permission form. Any questions can be directed tot Ms. Tait Angel at the school.
First Communion and First Reconciliation registrations forms will be sent home tomorrow to our Grade Two students.
There are a number of important dates coming up for those students preparing for the sacraments. Please be sure to add them to your family calendar.

This is a chance for new students (and parents) to tour our school and meet the Kindergarten Team. If possible, we encourage you to arrange alternate care for siblings for the Open House Event. Although you are welcome to register children up to the end of August, it is optimal to have your child’s registration package returned as soon as possible (ideally by the end of February) so that we can organize our classes for next year. As well, an early and completed registration will ensure your child is on our mailing list for our Welcome to Kindergarten Evening and the Step Into Kindergarten Program (if applicable). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.
Exciting news was released this morning after last night Board Meeting! Two decisions were made with regards to our new Catholic elementary school here in Smiths Falls.
First, the school’s name will be St. Francis de Sales Catholic School and secondly, Susan Forbes has been appointed Principal of the new school, effective September 1, 2018.
The link below will take you to the official letter written by Director Gartland.
